The application period for grants from the Sakari Alhopuro Foundation is 1–28 February 2023. Grants are awarded to research in medical science and related fields, environmental research as well as research that advances biodiversity and environmental protection. The research may be multidisciplinary.

The Foundation supports long-term and high-quality scientific research by awarding grants to postdoctoral researchers. The doctoral degree required of grant applicants may not be more than seven years old, unless the applicant can provide a relevant reason for exceeding this limit.

Researchers can apply for project grants, personal research work grants or both at the same time. The total sum of the applied funding can be a maximum of EUR 60,000. The application can also be for continued funding for ongoing research work.

The application shall be submitted through the Foundation’s online grant application service. Simply log in using the link found on the Foundation’s website. The detailed application criteria and instructions can be found on the website as well.

As part of the process of assessing research projects, focus will be placed on the research topic and plan, as well as on previous research and the researcher’s possibilities to carry out the research.

Grant applicants will be informed about the decision by e-mail. The names of the grant recipients will be published on the Foundation’s website at www.sakarialhopuronsaatio.fi no later than 31 May 2023.
