The Sakari Alhopuro Foundation promotes and supports high-quality medical research, multidisciplinary environmental research, biodiversity and environmental protection, cultural and social well-being in Finland, and economic education and entrepreneurism.
The Foundation provides grants to commendable researchers with doctoral degrees, and high-level research projects. In 2021, the grants will be awarded to research that promotes medical science and multidisciplinary environmental research, biodiversity and environmental protection. The 2021 application period for grants from the Sakari Alhopuro Foundation is 1–28 February 2021.
The Foundation specifically supports young doctors, so that they might have the opportunity to conduct research already during their studies and immediately after graduating. By awarding grants, the Foundation endeavours also to promote research in fields that are narrower in scope.
More research data is needed about the impacts of climate change on our planet’s future. The Foundation seeks to advance an understanding of the biodiversity of nature as a means of promoting a more sustainable use of our natural surroundings.
Entrepreneurship and companies are necessary to maintain the Finnish welfare society. The Foundation seeks to advance, among other things, entrepreneurship education and the understanding of the significance of entrepreneurship to the vitality of society.
Art provides a medium through which to take a stand and get people talking about important social issues. The Foundation seeks to advance, in particular, the conditions that enable budding artists to progress in their careers.
